John sent a message to David N. Farr – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emerson Electric Company – Email Address that said:
A while ago, I purchased (2) ceiling fans....loved them with. (1) exception every 15 mos. or so I have had to replace the fly wheel, currently on my 3rd set. Note: every time there was need of a technician to replace....Naples Lighting Fan Depot, serviced replaced the "faulty" ones! I am now replacing them again for the 4th time!
On 8/22/16 I contacted your on line Questionaire re: my problem!
THEIR ANSWER! Is the reason Im writing you directly. "There's nothing you can do to the fly wheel itself...They just wear over time, just like a tire"!
Not having any engineering background, just an understanding of tire wear vs. fly wheels, I thought that reply didn't actually fit the real problem with the fly wheel! Every time they were replaced the old ones were No Longer flat...they had apparently warped!
Additional the tech that replied actually suggested that: " If I could find lighter blades that could help with the longevity of the rubber hub"!
It seems that there lies the answer! The blades are too heavy for the fly wheel.....Problem solved!....Not quite.
1. Emerson no longer licenses Tommy Bahama, thats too bad, as the product looks great, except, of course, when it continues to make that grinding sound.
2. I have (2) additional ceiling fans from another manufacturer, that have been running seamlessly for approx. 20 years!
Never been serviced or have had to replace any part!
3. The actual retail value of the (2) TB301MAB fans were $1,200. Brand X $100.ea.
I would really like to keep both, however, as you might imagine....there driving me Nuts!
Any suggestions you might be able to offer, would certainly be much appreciated.
I might offer a suggestion!
A. Would it be possible to have a stronger fly wheel installed?
B. Are the other (lighter) blades that could be installed?
C. Is there another housing that used a different fly wheel that could solve the problem?
In closing...I think your dealer here in Naples, should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.....they've earned it.
Trust you might be able to come up with a solution!
Sincerely
John
