Mark Harris sent a message to Warner Baxter that said:
I am a relatively new resident of Illinois. We purchased our home in December. I am a decorated veteran, have a child currently in the hospital, and just learned my wife is pregnant. My income has been affected by the coronavirus epidemic and the future of my job is uncertain. My water bill is typically about $100 a month. Due to a leak, my bill was $532 in April, and $1009 in May. Obviously this creates a serious financial hardship. I contacted Ameren and asked for an adjustment and it was indicated that this would occur. I just received a callous notice demanding I pay the full amount with the absurd claim that there was no leak. I can assure you there was. I identified it and it is no longer leaking. I am disappointed in this false statement and the unwillingness of your company to adjust the bill. I plan on filing a complaint with the Illinois Commerce Commission and the Attorney Generals office. I would like you to have the opportunity to remedy the situation first. Thank you for your assistance.
