David sent a message to Robert L. Edwards – Chief Executive Officer and President at Safeway Inc. – Email Address that said:
As a mobility challenged, old man, I have been using Safeway's on-line ordering and delivery service since it begin here in Pierce County, Washington. It is a wonderful service for retired and disabled persons.
However, I have a complaint that doesn't seem to reach the ears of local Safeway management.
When I place an on-line order, the full amount is immediately charged to my credit card. But, usually, some ordered items are not available for delivery; however, the amount for these non-available items is never reimbursed.
Not knowing what this over-charging practice has costed me over the years, I started keeping track of it recently. And I found that in 3 of my last 4 orders placed (a span of about 30 days), 42 items were not available for delivery -- totaling $67.27.
At that rate, I'm being over-charged about $700 a year !! Being a person on fixed income, I can not afford this situation.
I have complained a few times to the Safeway Customer Service contacts; but all I get is a crock about the on-line prices being an estimate, and that taxes aren’t figured in.
I do not wish to be a trouble-maker; but I have been compelled to report this practice to the Washington State Attorney General's office.
Could you PLEASE direct this practice be charged to simply charge a person’s credit card AFTER the available ordered items are pulled for delivery ?
Sincerely,
David
