I have contacted customer service 3 different times asking for resolution to my problem. Each time I have expected PayPal’s customer service to respond and have not received even an acknowledgment. The first time I received and email saying I had sent my problem to the wrong department, but upon my request they would forward it to the correct department. I immediately replied to please forward. Since then I have tried twice more asking for someone to at least respond. I have checked the PayPal message center and it tells me my messages are not available. I check the resolution site and it tells me I have no pending problems. I am at a loss as to what to do. I have enjoyed using the convenience of PayPal – but not with the quality of service I am now receiving.
My Problem: We booked the Lollye on the Beach motel in Panama Beach for an arrival Sunday, April 3, 2016, with a departure date of Wednesday, April 6,2016. We paid for our reservation through PayPal in the amount of $330.78. April 3rd we had a later start than we planned and a much longer drive than anticipated – therefore we arrived quite late. When I called to explain we would be a late arrival, I was told it would not be a problem as a security guard would check us in. The security guard – they actual had two - did indeed check us in. He reeked of alcohol and I would really felt he was high on something. When we got to our room, the door would only open part way - we had to squeeze through. Inside the place was filthy – the floor was covered in sand, the toilet seat was literally half off the toilet and half on and looked like it belonged in a dump. There was not a dish without chips and cracks in it and when I opened the drawers they were filled with these dead bugs – not a few – but lots of them. The place was a filthy dive. It was very late and we are in our late 70’s so decided it was best to spend the night there. The next morning I was in the office as soon as they opened and explained how bad our room was and we would not be able to stay there. She agreed to cancel our reservation for the next two nights and wrote cancel across the receipt.
We immediately booked another motel for that Tuesday and Wednesday – again through PayPal – wo it can be verified we did not stay there! I have to assume the pictures they posted are pictures of the motel they own across the street and the reviews would have had to come from that motel also. The location is beautiful and just being an older motel would not have been a problem. However it was beyond a doubt the filthiest place I have ever been in.
I cannot believe PayPal has not responded to my numerous requests to check into my problem. The owner agreed to cancel and the receipt I signed is has the word cancel across it. I have contacted the owners without any resolution and based on this felt PayPal would stand by me as the product was certainly not as described. At this point I guess I would have been better to have used my debit card or a credit card as PayPal has certainly not measured up to my expectations.
