I am currently purchasing a 2018 Nissan Altima, VIN# 1N4AL3AP7JC157006, and the vehicle has been giving me “hell” for over two months. I am reaching out to seek assistance in settling these ongoing problems amicably. If, however, the matter cannot be resolved satisfactorily, I will consider taking further action to resolve the complaint through the Department of Commerce. In addition to submitting this letter to you, I will be forwarding a copy to the Consumer Protection Units Lemon Law Division, a letter to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and the Adjutant General.

In my reading, it appears Nissan CVT issues are common. It is rather clear that you all should extend warranty considering the recurring issues related to transmission/CVT. Seemingly, your products (i.e. cars) are not assembled with the right parts; so, towing and repair should be allowed. I have done an extensive amount of research and it appears that this has been an ongoing problem with your cars over the course of the past six years, and you’ve even encountered a class action lawsuit for the continuous problems with the Nissan Altima CVT and Transmission (i.e. the shuddering, the power, the hesitation, and the stalling). It seems to me that you all desire to make money off people by generating poorly made cars and not offering to fix the piece of junk car that individuals like me need in order to get to and from work. I am currently paying for a car, that is like new, but has various mechanical issues and it’s putting me further and further in to debt as I am unable to get where I need to without paying for a rental (Uber or Lyft) out of pocket, paying for maintenance, and paying my $676 monthly car payment.

I purchased my Nissan Altima, brand new, on June 13, 2018. There is no way that in a two-year time frame, my car is experiencing all these problems. As soon as my odometer reached 60,000 miles and I no longer have warranty on the car, it starts having problems. I was on the road, returning to my residence in Maryland when my car began pulling and I am beyond grateful that I was able to make it home, safely. Since then, it has been in the shop twice and is now sitting in a parking lot stopped, yet again, two weeks ago.

We are presently amid a pandemic and with all the struggles that come with day-to-day living in present time, I do not have additional funds to continuously work on a nonfunctioning vehicle. I am currently requesting an extension on my warranty to get my car fixed; the closest Nissan dealer can come pick the vehicle up and repair it.
I’m a Disabled Army Veteran and I cannot afford these consistent problems. As mentioned before, I have a costly car payment, accompanied with auto insurance and repair of this faulty lemon is not right.

I would like to thank you in advance for your assistance and hope to hear from you all sooner than later to resolve this problem. I can be contacted via email at MZNCTL66@gmail.com or by phone at 228.224.8749.

Sincerely,

Phoebe
