BRIANA BLANCHARD sent a message to Bruce VanSaun that said:
Dear Mr. Van Saun
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I am writing because I noticed on my credit report there are some late payments really holding me back from moving forward financially. I currently have a 75 term auto loan with Citizens bank. I have made over 45 on time payments but unfortunately I missed 4 back in 2016.
I want you to know that I understand my financial obligations, and if it weren't for my unforeseen circumstances at the time, I would not have missed those payments. Without getting into much detail I will briefly explain that I am employed as a Law Enforcement Officer and in 2016 I attended a 3 month militant academy that does not pay full base pay during the three months of training. While completing this academy, it was brought to my attention that my estranged, drug addicted mother had given birth to a drug addicted baby girl. The baby being 4 weeks old and me being 23 years old with no children, we suddenly became one. I chose to take full custody of her and do everything I can to be a mother to her while also completing this 3 month military based academy. My life in 2016 took a complete turn for the better. Unfortunately my credit paid the price as I financially struggled to make ends meet. Iâd have an excellent repayment method had I not been in a time crunch focusing on a career while also making sure my 4 week old sister didn't have to go without. As you can see, all of my payments from in 2017, 2018, and 2019 were made timely. 2016 just happened to be the year that all my blessings came at once forcing me to cut losses in places that Iâm now paying the price for.
Iâm planning on applying for a mortgage to secure a permanent home for my sister and I before she starts Kindergarten. These missed payments will affect my ability to qualify. My credit score has dropped more than 100 points because of these missed payments. I truly believe that I made great decisions in mothering my sister and completing a law enforcement academy all at once. Unfortunately it caused these late payments and I do not feel it properly reflects my credit worthiness and commitment to pay my debts. It would help me immensely if you could assist in giving me a second chance by making a goodwill adjustment to remove the late payments in January, April, June, and September of 2016.
Thank you for your time and consideration and I hope you understand how much this would improve my success in life.
Best,
Briana Blanchard
