Patricia sent a message to Marvin R. Ellison – President of J. C. Penney Company Inc.- email address that said:
Congratulations upon your new prestigious leadership position at J C Penney. Since you are in charge, on behalf of a large segment of American society (actually still the majority race for about 19 more years), we resent the racial makeup of the advertising in the current Mothers Day sales booklet that arrived in our homes. Mr. ELLISON, YOU WILL NOTICE THAT THERE IS NOT ONE CAUCASIAN PICTURED IN THE ENTIRE 25 PAGE MAILER. THERE IS ONE QUESTIONABLE DARK HAIRED MODEL WHO APPEARS TO BE DARK HAIRED European, possibly Italian. Not one red head, blonde, or light brown haired, blue or hazel eyed person representing those of us who are of Iris, Scandinavian, or German lineage. ....races who have been here a long, long time and who have worked hard to establish this countrys greatness for everyone to enjoy. Mr. Ellison. I assume you are not a racist in view of your ascension to head of J C Penney, but your company clearly is racist toward white Americans .We do notice that you do not seem to want our business, so we will promptly avoid your store until you speak to your advertising department and advise them that the sum total of all minorities in America is still not the majority yet. White people still have money and need clothes, many who have always shopped at JC Penney. When I have time, I will be addressing letters to each director regarding these racist advertisements. I trust you will look more closely at your advertising and not gear them toward all dark haired, dark eyed people. Dont cut the millions of us "other" out yet. Thank you for your time to read this.
