Elizabeth sent a message to Arthur L. Peck,€“ Chief Executive Officer ,Gap Inc.€“ Email Address that said:

Dear Gap and Old Navy companies,

In our geography class at EO Smith high school we have been studying clothing companies and what some factories do to people.
Do you realize where your clothes are coming from? There has been lots of research done showing that the factories that make your clothes treat their workers poorly and they’re under terrible conditions. In the article, “Are these Unethical Fashion Brands hiding in your closet?” it states, “In the same year, The Telegraph details how a raid on a New Delhi found children as young as eight sewing clothes designed for Gap clothes,” (Treehugger 1). No factory should have children working this young for long days and under poor conditions, it’s really cruel punishment. This article also stated that they are forcing women to get abortions if they are pregnant that way they can work more and not have to care for a baby. They also are forcing young Chinese women to work in these factories and no person should ever be forced into working in horrible conditions (Treehugger 1). “Gap is in violation of its own code of conduct and these abuses have been going on for more than two and a half years,” states The Institute for Global Community and Human Rights. So clearly, your factories are treating people very poorly and they’re are under terrible conditions which is not fair for them. By using these factories it’s pushing away customers, especially customers that are against these sweat shops. I would consider changing some things around and not supporting these sweat shops, you will probably even gain some more customers.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth
