Amira sent a message to Kelcy Warren – Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Energy Transfer Partners, L. P. Email Address that said:
Dear Kelcy Warren,
Please clarify why Energy Transfer partners is partaking in the heavily militarized response to the Standing Rock Sioux, including the attack dogs, sound-cannon trucks, heavily armed officers, and even a crop duster spraying undetermined chemicals over the camp. Does your company lack so much integrity that you are willing to hurt peaceful protestors, disregard treaties and even bulldoze burial sites for the almighty dollar?
I am sickened to see that you have gone to measures that were last seen in the civil rights movement during the 60's to silence a minority group of people. How can you call for and condone such despicable acts that are completely void of moral integrity.
I urge you to have a conscience. I urge you to stop the violence against these people. DNB bank has already withdrawn from your project and we are continuing to protest the DAPL by asking other banks and sponsors to withdraw as well. Whether or not you are granted the pipeline, we will continue to spread the word and boycott companies benefiting from the DAPL, as well as any other businesses that you are invested in and the Cherokee Music Festival. The voice of the people matters!
Thanks,
Amira
