Bonnie sent a message to Marvin R. Ellison – President of J. C. Penney Company Inc.- email address that said:
Dear Marvin,
First my thanks for reviving JCP, which has always been a stable/go-to store!
A suggestion, stemming from a weekend experience at 2 JCP stores in California...Pleasanton Furniture and Hayward. The shortened version is ...there was a chair on sale which I wanted to purchase. Unfortunately I was not able to do so because I was told they did not have any home delivery if an item was on sale. Huh? Really? Even if I was willing to pay for the delivery? I was told no by both stores. (Pleasanton was not exactly friendly about the issue either, but Hayward was at least apologetic.). I never would have considered JCP would not be very selling a big ticket item but then not having some type of delivery accomodation. (Unfortunately my big gorilla neighbors with the trucks were unavailable on a Sunday.) The sad part is that what I would have spent on one chair....I spend two-fold (or more) in the regular store over a year's time. Now, I will think twice before any pennies are spent there.
The policy is crazy. On a whim, I went next door to the Sears Outlet to ask their policy and wouldn't you just know....THEY DELIVER.
The amusing side of the story is that I was told they were clearing out the furniture because they want to sell large appliances? How will those be delivered and will you expect the customer to self-install also?
Keep up the turn-around even though you have a few challenges ahead!
