Dear Mr Barton, I was watching you on television last week and you were talking – Dominic Barton email address

Bill sent a message to Dominic Barton Managing Director, McKinsey Company – email address that said:

Dear Mr Barton,

I was watching you on television last week and you were talking about how Canada needs immigrants to fill the jobs of the future.

I was wondering if maybe you could help me with my situation. Fifteen years ago I met and married a girl from Russia, who has one son William. He came to Canada for a visit and decided he would like to immigrate also. Because he had a Master Degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics, I thought he would not have any problems getting into Canada.

How wrong I was; it has been unimaginable to stay in Canada we were advised by an immigration layer. He should improve his English and try to reenter Canada as an International student. We sold his mother's condo in Russia to help pay for his education. He went to Thompson River University in Kamloops BC for five years learning English and Computing Science. So now he also has a Bachelor Degree in Computing Science. He received a three year work visa and had trouble finding work because he didn't have work experience. Finally, he got a job in Vancouver and worked as a Junior Software Developer at Macroh Interaction until the company had a work shortage. He was laid off at the same time he was applying for landed immigration status. One and half years ago he applied to CIC for landed immigrant status, but he could not receive a permanent residence status through this program. The Express Entry point system works against him because he doesn't have a job and his work visa expired. He lost 600 points by not having work which seems extremely unfair to me.

Now to stay in Canada we applied for Humanitarian and Compassionate Visa, which can take 3 years to process with no guarantees. William now has only a visitor visa for one year to wait for a decision and cannot work. I can't believe after ten years of being in Canada that we are still in this awful situation waiting.

I was wondering if there was any thing you could do to help us with this heart wearing situation.

Thank you for you time,

Bill
