Dear Mr. Chairman, On August 11 I received an abrupt notification that my $600 line – William H Rogers Jr email address

Sharon sent a message to William H. Rogers, Jr. – Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SunTrust Banks – Email Address that said:

Dear Mr. Chairman, On August 11 I received an abrupt notification that my $600 line of credit would be closed as of the date of the letter I held in my hand. Wow, the letter was a one pager, straight and to the point. I felt that because of its abruptness that it was, and was intended to be mean spirited. I do apologize for missing a payment of $25.00 last month on my $600 line which had a balance due of $352. I am writing you to ask that Suntrust consider changing the blunt letter which I received to something a bit kinder. Please consider a person who has incurred $14,000 in medical bills during the past 3 years (I am that 64 yr old person), or the young person who is feeling secure with the available $200-300 knowing that if they fall short on baby sitting fees, special diet need for a sensitive child, or rent increase that they will have a little to fall back on...but then they receive this notification, and for them they may feel helpless, hopeless, defeated, dismayed, and discouraged. Oh what a difference a letter expressing some hope for them would make. For instance a statement like your line of credit will be reconsidered upon receipt of consistent payment on the outstanding balance. For me it was an oversight and I can and will do better, but for a person who is down and out can Suntrust offer a bit of hope, a bit of the good southern character which I know you personally possess? I don't know who sent the letter I mentioned because it had not signature just a consumer lending closure. I believe if the Atlanta Branch or the Suntrust Branch at my hometown here in Alexandria at Bradlee/King Street had written this letter it would have added a Thank you for banking w/Suntrust....We will consider your reapplication for a credit line at a future date or something of that nature would have been added. That would have been most appropriate for a bank of the magnitude and scope of Suntrust: 32 billion in local deposits, and 187 impressive branches. I am now a retiree and as such must speak on behalf of us and those who come after us. I am as of Sept. eligible for Medicare which I have paid into all my 40 yr worklife along with a supplemental policy which runs $550 monthly + dental insurance at $65 mnthly. I don't expect to pay out of pocket medical bills as I have for the past three years and can bounce back. However, my heart goes out to the young workers of America. I hope you will take my suggestion to toss that abrupt one pager or revise it to feed clients a bit of your good character. It may offer hope to anyone going through a particularly rough time beyond their control. I also noticed at one point that my use of the approved credit line was reported to the credit bureau-this seems a bit unusual. Please remember the strugglers out there, those w/day care issues, child support, poor health insurance, low income, laid off, w/foreclosures, or illness by offering a ray of hope. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Sharon
