Brandy sent a message to J. Clifford Hudson Chairman and CEO, Sonic Corp. – email address that said:
Dear Mr. Hudson,
I am writing you today to inform you that the franchise location you have at 2720 Washington Avenue in Houston, Texas clearly shows total disregard for your company and your brand.
Just as your are a father, I am a mother and my oldest daughter works for this location. This is her first job and she is doing her best to balance school and work. My daughter has advised her father and myself that she is having a problem with a new manager. She stated that he has been making her feel uncomfortable at work by making comments and continuously making passes at her.
As any parent would, I requested more information about this new manager so I could do everything possible to ensure this behavior is corrected. All I was able to get was his name, Roderick Rowe. I did a little further digging and found out this man was born on June 26, 1981...my daughter is only 17 years old and still in high school so I was beyond irate that this man that is about the same age as myself would even bring himself to hit on a child!
At this point I couldn't help but do a criminal history search on this man as I am worried about my daughter working so closely with him. I WAS APPALLED WHEN THE RESULTS CAME BACK! I am unfamiliar with your employment requirements when it comes to a background check, but I am PRETTY SURE that someone who is a registered sex offender SHOULD NOT be working with teenagers. This was just the most shocking information and merely the tip of the iceberg. Allow me to fill you in on your "new manager" and his 14 year rap sheet:
1. Burglary of a building
2. Unauthorized use of a vehicle
3. Possession of a controlled substance
4. Manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance
5. Trespassing on five different occasions
6. Evading detention
7. INDECENCY CHILD EXPOSURE
8. Multiple Possession of Marijuana charges
9. Assault of a family member four different times
10. Violation of a protective order
11. FAILED TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER TWICE!
12. Theft $50- $500
13. Evading arrest
I am extremely alarmed to find that someone with all of these prior convictions would be allowed to work with our children! We viewed Sonic as a great way to prepare our daughter for being responsible and understanding the true value of a dollar but if people like this man are allowed to work their and MANAGE people including kids when he is clearly a sex offender and a pedophile, I am not so sure we made the right decision.
I am hopeful that this email to you will express the importance of the matter at hand and my overall concern as a parent. I am available to speak with anyone necessary to get a resolution. I have already filed a complaint with reference and was advised someone should get back to me within two business days.
I truly do hope to hear back from you. In the meantime I will be doing my research to see what I can do legally to have him removed from a situation that involves children. I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
