David sent a message to John C. Lechleiter, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer ,Eli Lilly and Company Email Address that said:
Dear Mr. Lechleiter,
I am a third year medical student at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS) in need of financial help. I've been on leave from school for over a year now as a result of inadequate financing and a diagnosis of skin cancer that required treatment. I had hoped to be eligible for a Sallie Mae loan, but as a result of my outstanding debt from undergraduate loans I have been denied.
For the past year Iâve been working and trying very hard to acquire funding for the entire remaining cost of my education ($200,000 minimum). I must return to Portland, Maine by mid April of 2016 as the U.S. Dept. of Education allows a maximum time within which to complete my medical training. My immediate need is for $100,000. I'm asking you to consider a gift or a loan to me in any amount.
Rough estimate of needs for one year:
-Housing cost of living (12 months)
@ $1500/mo. = $18,000
-Tuition fees, etc. @ $15,000/semester
(3 semesters) = $45,000
-Purchase of pre-owned car insurance for 1 yr. = $10,000
-Money owed = $12,000
-Health insurance, medical equipment, pre-licensing exam fees, etc. = $15,000
Total = $100,000
I'd be happy to provide to you any information, proof or documentation concerning my situation at this time.
Itâs been my ambition to become a physician since I was young, so that someday I can administer to the medical needs of others. Please give serious consideration to my request and respond at your earliest convenience. Thank you.
With kind regards,
David
