dear mr. levatich:
as a 30 year harley rider, ex harley salesman and long term hog member, it is always a pleasure to point out when a job has been particularly well done.
while a top saleperson at chester's harley in florida, i sold a slightly used limited to a german couple who were planning a 6 week motorcycle trip through the pacific northwest during the summer of 2016. although unfortunate management and compensation changes at the dealership forced me to leave, i was still able to coordinate the successful delivery to a denver dealership where they picked up the bike in july. trip was great, they took me out for a celebratory dinner before returning to germany and all was good. they reached out to me recently to say they had been unable to get a refund of their unused extended warranty and could i possibly help. i assumed, correctly, that the sale of chester's had caused some accounting issues and reached out to the only person i felt could help, derry graham, the ex-comptroller who now works for southern spokes motorsports but is also handling the wind-up of chester's responsibilities.
derry knew nothing of the problem and unfortunatly the couples daughter, who was the registered owner of the bike, had completed her college degree and was returning to germany in 3 days. derry promised to investigate and low and behold, 18 hours later called me to say she had just cut the check, what should she do with it.
there are two types of people in the world, doers and talkers. fortunatly for chester's when they had her, southern sports now, and certainly my customers, derry is a doer.
much continued success.
