Richard sent a message to David Long - Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group Email Address that said:
Dear Mr. Long,
I am contacting you to express my feelings about your Liberty Mutual Automobile Insurance ads. In my opinion, your ads only serve to strengthen the negative opinion that the majority of consumers have about insurance companies. It took me a long time to recognize that, apparently, Liberty Mutual's objective is to make yourselves appear to be better / more customer friendly than other insurance companies. The actual result is to help perpetuate the attitude that many have about insurance companies, believing that they are rich entities whose main objective is to take unfair advantage of the general public. When your ads come on, I change to another channel, fast forward through it using Tivo, or sometimes just put it on mute.
To let you know a little of where I come from in reaching my conclusions, please be aware that I am a strong advocate of insurance. I majored in insurance at the Wharton School of Finance and held a full lines insurance license. Most of my direct experience was with life insurance products, but the principles of insurance remain the same. I got out of the business and became a bank trust officer because I found it difficult to accept the negative attitude that the general public had about insurance agents and insurance companies in general.
Please reconsider the true impact that your ads have on the insurance public.
Sincerely,
Richard
