Dear Mr. McAvoy,
Over the past few months I have been getting letters from Con Ed that my gas meter needs replacing. Since I have virtually No time off from work, except some weekends, I have been putting off calling them back to schedule.
About 2 months ago I get a phone call from Ms. Bovine from one of your offices.
She told me the meter is not working properly and really has to replaced. So I made an appointment with her and because of my schedule I had to change it again with her.
My new appointment was for today October 14 with a time from 8AM-12Noon. I put in for this day off 1 month ago at a loss of $200 on my part. I do not have a job that pays me when I take off.
Yesterday, since I received no confirmation phone call or message from Con Ed, I called Ms. Bovine. she did not answer so I left her a voice message. All day, no return calls ? I did call 2 more times during the day and no answer!
So I called the Toll Free Customer Assist number and I filly got someone to speak to and they told me Yes everything is in their system and I am all scheduled for the meter change today between 8:00AM-12Noon.
Great I said !
Today I get up real early to empty the meter room so the workers will have more room to work and they can finish asap! well I waited until 11:20 AM and started to get concerned since nobody has shown up. I called Ms Bovine
and again No Answer! I left a message. No return call. I call the toll free number and they said they are still scheduled and to give them more time since it wasn't 12Noon yet.
I waited till 1:00 when I called again. I spoke to a young lady but unfortunately i didn't get her name. She was unable to reach that department that does this and was going to give the information to her supervisor and would call me back. No Return Calls !!
I waited till 3:00PM and got to speak to young man named Mr. Lucas. I had to re explain the whole situation all over to him and I told him to record all this in the system since the girl I spoke to around 1:00 did nothing! He also said he would check into it and call me back. About 30 minutes later he calls back and and says he is getting me a new appointment for next Thursday or Friday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told him Absolutely Not!!!! I asked him what about Today ??? there is still 2 hours of business left ???? Or Tomorrow ????? He said there was nothing he could do and would send all of these details over to Ms. Bovine in an E mail!!
Mr. McAvoy, I lost $200 staying home all day today waiting for Nothing !!!!! I am not staying home another day to lose another $200 !!!!! Money is very tight this day and age!!!
For a company as Big as Con Edison I find this Absolutely Ridiculous !!!!!
But then again since there is no competition in this industry, myself and the general public are forced to buy energy from you! This is why things like this are allowed to happen.
