Marlene sent a message to Peter E. Nordstrom – President and CEO of Nordstrom Inc. – Email Address that said:
Dear Mr. Nordstrom,
I've been shopping at your store since I first moved to Seattle in 1984. I always thought that it was a proud family company, and as a Seattle resident is as proud of it.
However, I no longer feel that pride. Because your company has chosen to put profits ahead of democracy, fairness and equality. Despite the pleas of regular customers like myself you continue to sell items which carry the name of the next president, a man who is the unabashed embodiment of racism, misogyny, xenophobia and bullying. This is not a matter of politics. This is a matter of morals and ethics. I hope you will consider following the bold and unabashedly American stance taken by the CEO of Penny Spices and chose decency:
We are heading into a dark time as a country, a time of fear and cruelty. Please, as a longtime customer, I beg you to set a brave example and do the right thing.
Please. Represent Seattle as the decent accepting place it is.
Thank you.
