Dear Mr O’Leary, I have tried several times to resolve an issue with my booking – Michael OLeary email address

Dear Mr O'Leary,

I have tried several times to resolve an issue with my booking at Ryan Air and have unfortunately not been successful in any attempt. I therefore think it is best to email you directly.

I made a booking with Ryan Air for the end of October/beginning of November 2016 for a holiday to Rome for myself and my boyfriend as a surprise birthday present. Unfortunately, I have found out he has his graduation in the middle of the holiday and therefore I am tying to quickly change the date to the week after my reservation with your company.

However, when trying to do so online through your company's website, I have found that instead of paying a "fee" to change them I would actually be paying £186. How can this be called a fee when it is £73 more than the original flights that I have already purchased? I would be better off buying 2 more flights on top of the ones I already have.

I would just like to say that the flights I booked were at very popular times, and could easily be resold. I am not asking for a refund, simply a date change, and I am very flexible with the change date. I am happy to pay some percentage of the cost I have paid (£113), but certainly not £113 again, plus £73.

I have tried to call up customer services to explain the situation, but due to the high cost of the calls I was unable to. I also spoke to somebody on an online chat on the Ryan Air website in hope of resolving the issue, but unfortunately was given no instruction of how I can get around the problem other than to use the self-change service you offer on your website.

I am a student and I do not have the funds to pay for the flights again. As a result I will not be booking another date to fly with your company, simply because I can not afford to. The two seats I have reserved will be empty.

I use Ryan Air as my sole company for travelling because of your well known fantastic value for money. However, I do not feel the same after the discovery of the shocking "fee" that is charged for flight alterations.

Is there any way of resolving this issue?
