Mikey sent a message to Michael O’Leary – CEO, Ryanair – Email Address that said:
Dear Mr O'Leary
My name is Mikey, Mikey coming from Michael, an absolutely fantastic name but I'm sure you already know that. I'm a Leaving Cert Student living in Galway and I have a problem that I'm hoping you could help me out with. As a Leaving Cert student I'm plagued with stress, what with the mocks in 3 weeks I'm literally stuck to the books from morning till night. A lot of the times it seems like there's no end in sight, it's just a constant circle of waking up early, going to school, going to after school study, coming home and doing more study, then going to bed and repeating the next day. BUT the one thing that always kept me going was the thought of summer, freedom and the sheer joy of being finished with secondary school. You see Mr O'Leary I had planned on going on a post Leaving Cert holiday to Santa Ponsa with my mates. (Generic I know but what harm sure) Now I know what you're probably thinking, this lads broke and is asking for free flights to Spain. This is not the case. My Mother being the lovely woman that she is accidentally booked a family holiday to Portugal at the same time I was meant to go to Santa Ponsa with the lads. She booked them as non refundable too which left me in quite a spot of bother as the only way she would let me go to Sansa Ponsa with the lads is if I paid her back the €400 it cost her booking me in for Portugal. I would have no problem paying her back the money but then I wouldn't be able to pay for myself to go to Santa Ponsa which kinda defeats the purpose. I asked her could she not just bring someone in my place to which she replied that it would just as much to bring someone else in my place as apparently the flights are booked in my name and that it's basically the same as re-booking costing the same amount. I'm asking for you to be lenient with your policies just this one time Mr O'Leary, whatever you can do for me whether its allowing my mother to bring my older sister in my place for no charge or give her a refund of the money. Technically you wouldn't be losing a whole lot of money as I would be booking my flights to and from Santa Ponsa with Ryan Air obviously. Now you dont know me and I don't know you but I'm hoping you'll take pity on me as I literally could not think of anything else to do. I can't say there's anything in this for you except that if you choose to help me out I'd be eternally grateful and my spirits would be raised for the remainder of the Leaving Cert as I would have something to look forward to. I don't even know if you'll read this, this could just end up going to some worker in Ryan Air who marks this as spam and sends me an automated response, but I'm a dreamer and I hope to hear from you.
