Donald sent a message to Rodger O. Riney Founder and CEO, Scottrade email address that said:
Dear Mr. Riney,
You took $278.64 from our life's savings, when we are both 65 years old plus!
We decided to try Scottrade and joined a few months ago. We invested over $21,000.00 with Scottrade.
When we signed up, I checked the "margin" box which we never exercised before. We thought why not, perhaps it would be some thing we would look into.
We received a computer notice that we owed $32.00. We thought it was a mistake, for charging us commissions which we thought should have not been chargeable.
We responded with a computer response to correct the issue. NO RESPONSE. We kept receiving notices on our account that what we owed kept increasing. We sent a 2nd URGENT message to correct the situation. NO RESPONSE.
We then received a computer notice to confirm, that our holdings would be liquidated.
I called the local office and explained. I had to drive 40 miles, 50 minutes, below freezing, a round trip to deliver a $278.64 check or else.
Due to our contacts to no avail, please return our $278.64 and explain if we would ever receive it back if our holdings to return to prevent such an issue.
Sincerely,
Donald Catherine
