Jeff sent a message to Edward W. Stack – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dick’s Sporting Goods – Email Address that said:
Dear Mr. Stack;
I wanted to share with you my extreme dissatisfaction with a recent online purchase.
On 08/06/2016 I placed an order online for a pair of soccer cleats for my son. The order was placed successfully and the size and style were listed as in stock. I received an email indicating the order was processed and received a confirmation number . Later I received an email stating the shoes were not in stock. I contacted your customer service and was advised the shoes were back ordered and no date of shipment could be given.
On 08/14/2016, I received an email stating the shoes were in stock and would be shipped.
On 08/18/2016, I discovered my order had been cancelled. I contacted customer service again and was advised the order was cancelled because the shoes were not in stock.
How were the shoes in stock when I placed the order but suddenly not in stock and then in stock and being shipped on 08/14/2016 and then not in stock on 08/18/2016?
The item I purchased, or at least I thought I purchased, were soccer cleats for my son. Soccer cleats are not a purchase you make to leave sitting around your house. The cleats were purchased because they were needed to be worn during the soccer season, which has now begun without soccer cleats.
I had never used your online ordering despite frequently making purchases at your local stores. Your local stores carry only low quality soccer cleats for young children so I thought I would try online. I have learned my lesson and will instead use the soccer specific businesses to make purchases going forward.
I guess if the shoes were needed for one of the Olympic athletes you spotlight in your commercials the process would have been different but since my son is only a high school soccer player we are left scrambling to find soccer cleats for a season, which has now started.
Sincerely,
Jeff
