Tammie sent a message to William T. Dillard II – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dillard’s Inc. – Email Address that said:
Dear Mr. William T. Dillard,
I am writing in regards to an associate by the name of Venetta in your Zona Rosa Store
I was shopping along with my niece whom lives abroad in the ladies department and I wanted a size 10p in a certain 2 pc. dress that just happened to have the shrug missing so I was going to ask the associate if she happened to have the shrug to it. I also had the 12p in hand because if the 10p was not complete I would have settle for the larger size. I approached Mrs. Mittelscaedt and proceeded to ask, "Excuse me mam and she cut me off and said rather loudly in front of other customers, "I am NOT discounting that for you". It rather took me by surprise and I told her I wasn't going to ask for a discount, the shrug is missing and again she interrupted me telling me, "Well that is how it is being sold". Needless to say I felt humiliated and mistreated by your employee. She had her nametag covered up where I could not see her name so I took it upon myself to ask her, Excuse me mam what is your name? She answered Venetta, Why? As not to get confrontational I said just curious.
I searched for my niece who was working with another associate in the ladies department that was so very pleasant and I told my niece of my experience and she was then upset because she overheard Mrs. Mittelscaedt talking poorly about a customer that just happened to be me.
I have worked in management for several years and know how detrimental an associate like Mrs. Mittelscaedt can be to a wonderful company like Dillard's. Honestly I pondered in the moment whether to purchase my merchandise or put it back on the rack and cancel my Dillard's Elite credit card due to such a negative experience. I decided to purchase my merchandise and write a formal complaint to you in hopes no other customer has to endure such poor customer service and humiliation by Mrs. Venetta.
Sincerely,
Tammie
