Jerry sent a message to Christopher J. Swift – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Hartford – Email Address that said:
Dear sir,
I recently filed a claim for the first after 16 years as a customer of The Hartford. I must admit I had not thoroughly read my policy but I thought the $50 credit I received each year for no accident applied to Comprehensive as well as Collision. You can imagine my shock on finding I had to pay a $1000 deductible after colliding with a deer. I have now lowered my deductible to $500 and I wish you could see in your heart to refund at least half of the $1000 I paid. I don't even understand why the state says a collision with a deer is not considered a "collision".
I also received very poor service from the adjuster. When I would ask a question he would say he had to call me back and then never call. The whole thing is making me seriously consider leaving The Hartford when my policy expires next August. In the 16 years with no claims I estimate I have paid you all over $8000.
Jerry
