Garrett Sapakoff sent a message to Edward Stack that said:
Mr. Stack,
I have worked in the outdoor retail industry for a long time, and I have seen and experienced the tremendous success of small local running shoe stores, and large national running shoe chains. Dick's Sporting Goods is a tremendous company, but they are really behind on running shoes.
The running community knows that Dick's is far, far from the best place to buy shoes. The selection is not good, and there are no experts capable of fitting customers. Runners make up one of the largest global communities.
I believe that with the resources available to Dick's Sporting Goods, there is a giant missed opportunity. Right now, nobody should buy running shoes at Dicks, because everybody else can do a better job, and Dick's is out of touch with the running world. With the right selection, the proper training, better store merchandising, and an attempt to change the running world's perception of Dick's Sporting Goods.
I would love an opportunity to discuss this, and present my case.
Thanks for reading.
