Jal Khambata sent a message to Kushal Singh that said:
Greetings and good wishes.
I am a close friend and journalist working with Raman. With gratitude I acknowledge your efforts to persuade him for medical treatment and fix an appointment for him on Gangaram Hospital for his throat ailment. It, however, turned differently on April 24 when he went to meet Dr Neerav Jain. Doctors had to resurrect his heart and then put him on ventilator as he was unable to breathe. MRI showed a major damage to brain. Doctors wanted his elder brother to take Raman home and arrange nursing facilities despite the fact that he was still in coma and would die without ventilator. Almost homicide on part of the doctors. Anyway, Raman is still on ventilator but I do not know how long. His brother has limited means and so are all friends trying to help out. He is quite upset how to clear the hospital bills that were nearly 3 lakhs yesterday. He did speak to Mr Setu Madhevan in your office but felt ignored or not picking up his phone.
Please help his brother if you can. Since, there appears no chance to get back same Raman even if revived in view of the brain damage, his family members in Pune, Mumbai and Delhi had a video-conferencing yesterday along with the senior ICU doctor in which I had also joined and all are thinking of pulling the plug and let Raman die peacefully.
Sending all this information since Raman treated you as one of his best well-wishers. Thanks,
Jal Khambata
