Denise sent a message to Doug McMillon that said:
Dear Mr McMilliom,
I am reaching out to you about a recent isituation at the Highridge distribution center. My son has been employed at that center for 13 years. He is a very hard worker, he doesnât miss time, he has always followed employee work policies, he has done so well working at this distribution center that he has advanced in the company. Unfortunately he has recently been diagnosed with a medical condition, anxiety, he has been placed on some medications by his PCP, to find what type and dosage works best for him. An incident recently occurred at the work place, where he became frustrated while working on a machine at the center and tossed a tool across the floor. He was taken off the job floor. He did explain his recent diagnosis to the management, but was ultimately escorted out of the building for tossing the tool, which I must add did not harm anyone, nor break anything in the plant. He contacted the main manager for a meeting to discuss the recent situation and about keeping his job. After 3 weeks, he finally received a phone call from the manager, who informed him that he was fired and would not be rehired because of his behavior and that he was afraid that my son would hurt someone, because he tossed a tool. My son is far from violent, he certainly wouldnât try to hurt anyone, he is very laid back young man . In the 13 years he has dedicated to working at the distribution center, he has never been written up for any bad behaviors.
What I donât understand is why an employeee of his caliber, would be fired and not given a second opportunity. He is the type of employee you most definitely wouldnât want to lose. Iâm asking for your assist in this matter. As the President and Chief Executive Officer at Walmart, I would think you would want to keep loyal and hard working employees like my son.
Iâm asking you to look into this situation and review my sons work performance. Iâm hoping you will override the unfair decision made to terminate my sons employment, and give him the second opportunity he deserves.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Denise
