I appreciate the offer to trim trees in order to improve reliability. I do understand this is a proximate cause of the outages we experienced this summer. However, if you compare the grid reliability to some other regions, where lines are buried underground, you would see an even larger difference. This should bring us to the conclusion that the root cause is actually the fact that the lines are above ground and exposed to falling trees.
I do understand that there is an efficiency loss when lines are in close proximity to earth, but the electrical losses are much more acceptable, and could even be smaller, than periodic repairs.
Just something to consider.
