Craig Cowen sent a message to Earl Hesterberg that said:
Mr. Hesterberg,
I would like to address with you an incident that took place between me and one of your dealerships, Town North Nissan in Austin, Texas.
I found a vehicle I was interested in, a 2016 Ford Flex, on Cargurus and submitted an email to the dealership.
My offer was responded to with an email that read, in part:
"16k plus ttl sounds reasonable to me. When can you come in to test drive it?"
After numerous emails back and forth, test driving the car, meeting with Oscar Diaz, the sales director, and subsequently taking the car for a PPI the next day on my own time, I was told that price would not be honored and that I could not possibly expect them to sell me the car at that price.
Mr. Diaz admitted that he never intended to sell the car to me for that price and when I asked if he had a counter offer, he told me it would be insulting, maybe $100 or $200 off the asking price. Mr. Diaz also acknowledged that he was aware I would not have continued with the purchasing process, especially not an expensive PPI/UCI had I thought the price would be anything other than what his salesmen, Emmett Hylton, agreed to.
Of course there is much more to the story.
I am happy to forward to you the emails I mentioned and I would very much like to resolve my issue with your dealership and it is my hope that there is more honesty and honor to be had by them.
Please feel free to reach out to me at your convenience.
