Dear Mr. Sonny

Our daughter is not a hotel guest but living in your penthouse on the 48th floor, Ritz Carlton Mega Kunningan. She is an expat, working for Unicef.

Just to be correct: the earthquake did not last for a few seconds only but according to the official earthquake website: approx. 20 seconds!
The center of the 2nd earthquake was much closer to Jakarta than the first one, approx. 150KM away and not far away from Jakarta.

We would like to see some more info about the structure of this building.

If I remember correctly the Ritz Carlton Mega Kunningan was bombed a couple of years ago and this might have an effect on the safety of the building.
Do you have official reports about the structure of the building after the bombing?

We lived as diplomats in many countries and we have some experience with the danger of earthquakes.

The scale of investment of the Ritz-Carlton building would justify to include in the Terms of Reference of the design that the building should resist (under normal functioning); for instance an earthquake of 8.5 on the scale of Richter that lasts for 60 minute.
The type of load on the construction can be a horizontal ground wave or vertical ground wave, or a combination of both.

What we would like to know is, if "an earthquake design standard" has been used by Ritz-Carlton, so the construction can absorb loads for these earthquake standards.

Thats all. It is not about what you guess or think, its about what Ritz-Carlton has been using for the design and construction of their Ritz Carlton Mega Kunningan buildings.

We dont want to have the design details but proof that the building is designed to absorb "loads generated by earthquakes" with reference to the international earthquake standard.

I thank you for your cooperation and looking forward to receive your reply
Kind regards
Marjorie Bakker

So far we dont have any issue with the security and safety of our guest because of the earthquake last time. The center of the earthquake is far away from Jakarta, and an effect for a few second only. Our building structure is design to overcome this kind of situation, so we can guarantee for the safety.

Please let me know when you need other information, so we more than happy to assist you.
