About 30 years ago, the Jacob Schmidlap Foundation, moderated by 5/3, made a significant donation to the Shuttlesworth Housing Foundation (details available) when Bill Friedlander was chair of the Board.
That action enabled much good will in Cincinnati at another time of racial sensitivity, by providing mortgage downpayments and counseling to both white and black families. Many of the mortgages were with 5/3.
I have proposed to UC's Department of History that they study and report on the SHF as a significant effort to bolster racial harmony at this time of tension.
Is the Schmidlap Foundation interested in funding that study?
