First of all, let me assure you that I love Toyota vehicles. I currently own 2 Toyota vehicles and this is my third one that I have owned.
I currently own a 1997 Toyota Tacoma. Saturday, I loaded up my three wheeler to take it out in the woods. After loading my three wheeler, I looked at my truck and realized something didn't look right. I got under the truck and found that the frame on the passenger side had almost completely rusted in half. I unloaded the ATV and drove the truck right away to my mechanic. He let me know that it HAS completely rusted in half at this point and it is unsafe to drive. I found out there had been a recall on this vehicle for this very thing.
I contacted Toyota to find out what you could do about helping me fix this HUGE problem. I have, so far, been told that there is absolutely nothing that can be done because the recall has expired. Here is the deal. I have NEVER gotten a recall notice for this vehicle in the years that I've owned it. You can look at my records for the Corolla that I currently own and see that each of the two times that I've received a recall notice, I have had the vehicle in to get it fixed very quickly. I would have done the same thing with my Tacoma if I would have known about the recall. The customer service representative that I talked assured me that there's nothing that can be done in this situation because the recall has expired.
I would hate to think that I would be this disappointed in this company that I have so highly regarded because of your vehicles. I am a school teacher and I don't make millions of dollars where I can go out and buy a new truck at the drop of a hat.
I am emailing you today hoping that I'm not wrong in my high regards of this company. I love my truck and my car. I loved the truck that I owned before. Please help me get this problem fixed. For you, the company, a few thousand dollars to help me either get this truck fixed or buy a new one is not going to hurt you monetarily. For me, however, having to go out and buy a new truck just because this one has broken due to a recall will be highly detrimental, and pretty much impossible.
A customer service representative supervisor is supposed to be in contact with me at some point. I certainly hope I can get somewhere with him/her but the other representative that I talked to has assured me that she has done all that she can do in regards to this matter. I certainly hope that 's not true and hope that you will help me fix this problem. Thank you so much for your time!
