Donald Adamo sent a message to Harry Hohmeister that said:
Dear Mr. Kluhr,
I am sending you a follow up note regarding Swiss Airs' refund policy with regards to the Covid 19 pandemic.
Our flight to Zurich is scheduled to leave Newark Friday March 20, 2020.
Due to our age and underlying pre-existing conditions our physician has told us to both stay in place at home.
Health officials here in the US are recommending that ALL people stay a minimum of six feet apart from each other - so why have you decided to continue flying? Zermatt ski area which was our final destination has been closed for 1 1/2 weeks, there is a real possibility parts of Switzerland will be under lockdown shortly, if we were able to return home to the US on March 28 as planned, we would be under 14 day quarantine upon arrival. So again I ask you Mr. Kluhr why have you not cancelled these flights?
Protocol is that the safety of your employees and passengers is the primary focus of your efforts, is it not?
To make things even more unfortunate for me, I have booked an additional flight on Swiss Air for October of this year to attend a family reunion. Because of this, rebooking my original flight to a date of December 31 or earlier will not be possible.
The health experts in the US are saying the Covid19 pandemic could last up to 18 months, is it reasonable to allow only 9 months for rebooking?
Due to the extraordinary circumstances we are all going thru, our hotel in Zermatt refunded us, and the cost of our lift tickets was also refunded.
I can only imagine the stress involved in loosing all this revenue, but I also know the airline industry will be standing in line for their government bailout. I only hope the owner of the hotel we'd booked gets a bailout also. Either way the hotel owner won't be getting a large tax cut which he can then use to buy his own stock like your group has done in the past.
Yours Truly,
Donald Adamo
