Adeilia Price sent a message to Kelly S. King Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BBT Corporation Email Address that said:

Good afternoon,
I am a BBT account holder. I do not have millions in your bank. I, like many other Americans, am lucky to have thousands or evens hundreds of dollars in the bank.
I recently scheduled my car payment to come out. I also had a netflix subscription payment due. I did not have enough in my account for both. I understand that this is my responsibility to keep track of.
My reason for reaching out to you today, Is how your branch manager made me feel.
I called to see if there was any way to get the $36 fee returned to me. So that I could afford to make my car payment.
This was not able to be done. I had a previous fee in march of the same nature.
This is again understandable and all my fault. I get it.
When Pam Ford why the bank needed to take $36 from my account even though the charge for my car payment did not go through. Her response was to hang up on me. Even though I was in tears and looking for a solution.

She did however state to me that I could come in and apply for overdraft coverage to be added to my account. I assumed this was already on my account.

I am a single mother of 3 children trying to make ends. In doing this, I have realized that the bank only charges $1 at the gas pump. As long as I have $1 in my account, I can get a full tank of gas. This then puts my account in the negative. Which it stays in until my next paycheck is directly deposited. I am at no time charged an overdraft fee. I do not understand the difference between these two situations. I am charged $36 for not having enough for a charge to come through. The charge is rejected. Car payment not paid. Money still in my account. Then my bank charges me for this. But not for spending money I do not have in my account at the time I spend it.

I would hope that being such a small bank branch in such a close knit community that your Branch Manager would have a little more heart when dealing in customer service.
I am assuming you did not get to where you are by being rude people that you do business with.

Thank you for your time,

Adeilia Price
