Robin sent a message to Stuart A. Miller – Chief Executive Officer of Lennar Corporation – Email Address that said:
Good Evening,
Today my husband and I went to visit Lennar Homes at Water's Edge in Rowlett, TX where we were racially profiled and discouraged from viewing the model home, the home we were actually interested in, and from inquiring about a home on the waterfront by "Michael," an employee that was filling in for "Sal" because we wanted a 5/4.5/3 and "our time is valuable and he didn't want to waste our time." He said what we wanted was expensive in the neighborhood. What's sad is that we CAN afford it, the price of the base home is well below our price range, and well, we're human beings and potential customers.
We did see one home, but it was interior and we wanted on the water. That's when he "had to warn us homes on those lots start at $488K" and told us about interior homes that were less expensive. Not once did we mention our finances.
I'm hurt, disappointed, sad, and livid at the same time. Michael couldn't even give us his undivided time - he explained he was preparing for the weekend customers and continued organizing the flyers while he talked to us.
While you can't make this not happen to us, you have the opportunity to ensure Michael doesn't allow any of your future customers endure this type of humiliation.
I wish I could give you more specific information to identify him, but Michael never offered us a packet of information, his card or contact information. Just his first name and a horrible experience.
Regards,
Robin
