Dr Chikanza sent a message to Vincenzo Nesci CEO, Global Telecom Holding S.A.E. that said:
Good morning Sir. I am based in London and Johannesburg. I have been following with interest the news about your Telecel unit in Zimbabwe. I am Zimbabwean and a medical doctor with business interests in S Africa and the UK. We would be interested in working with VimpelCom and if you were to consider disposing of a stake in Telecel we write to express our interest in being considered as a potential reliable partner. As you well know, you entitled to choose a Zimbabwe indigenous partner of your choice for the stake to enable you to meet the country's Indigenous Regulations. We would be happy to jointly have discussions with the government. We believe that this can be resolved. Alternatively, if you were to consider to sell your 60% we would also be interested in the stake at fair market value. Alternatively, we could also look at other structures that would be of mutual benefit and preserve the value you have built in Telecel.
