Have you notice that there is a big new airport underway at Carlisle, Cumbria? This is the gateway to Scotland and the Lakes and there are excellent rail and bus links in all directions. Flying there would give a great alternative to expensive Ferry trips between Ireland and the U.K.especially from Belfast.
