Jim Beattie sent a message to Matthew S. Levatich President and Chief Executive Officer of Harley-Davidson, Inc. Email Address that said:
Hello Mr. Levatich. First of all I would like to thank you for taking time to read this email. My name is Jim Beattie. I will keep this short because I know your busy. Just so you know this is not a complaint. I read earlier this week that Harley-Davidson is cutting jobs. This truly saddens me.
I believe I may have an idea to boost sales for a minimal cost to you. I would be willing bet it would be the cheapest advertising you have ever done, with the highest results for sales. I am sure you get this kind of proposal all the time but I believe this one may be a little different. The idea has been done before but not the content. Most people do not buy a bike because they are practical or save money. I guess some do, but not the majority. They buy the bike for the journey. The destination is just a bonus. It is the ride that makes the trip. I believe I have a way to show people this very thing. I believe I have a way of showing people the feeling of the ride.
The idea of sales is pretty straight forward, you want the people to buy your product. But actually getting them to make the purchase is the trick. So how do you tip the scale for the person that was on the fence about buying a bike or even the person who has never even thought of buying a bike? You make them feel the ride. If you can make them feel it, the freedom, the relaxation, the joy, most people will not be able to help but buy one. I dont care who you are, everyone wants to have that feeling of being happy. And even people who cant afford it will pay to feel happy.
I have been riding a bike ever since I could remember. Regrettably I have never owned a Harley-Davidson ( I have never been able to afford one, responsibility first), but it is the first thing on my bucket list. However I have grown up with them my entire life. My dad, uncles, cousins, and friends have all had them. I love them! And I really
I believe I can help.
Mr. Levatich If you are at all interested please contact me at jimbokittoe@live.com. Thank you again for taking the time to read this letter. Sincerely, Jim
