Hello Mr. Thomas O'Brien.
My name is Raymond Glogowski. I am and have been a flatbed OTR driver for some time now. I fill up at Petro's and TA's only.
I"d like to first mention what an outstanding job I have witnessed at the petro stopping centers of Girard, Oh. and New Paris Oh., where i stop quite frequently. The staff their have a great atitude. The Manager Julie at Petro helped me out one day when I really needed it. I will never forget her promptness to go out of her way to help me, she actually did, she is business minded.
Some ideas:
TV lounge, drivers lounge,or movie theater would be nice if there were no PA, music speakers interfering with the drivers attention in these areas.
At the Iowa 80 truck stop the laundry room is right there to listen to while watching TV.
The TA in Columbus NJ.route 80 exit4 has a speaker and people constantly walking by. and its small.
Paid Parking. or reserved parking? How about expanding the parking lots first. I understand alot of drivers are careless and trash the lots with garbage. and then there"s the loss of profit in selling fuel and drivers are holding there own food supplies. I use to eat at the petros and ta..but quite frankly food prices kept going up and up..I know I would eat at the restaurent if I could eat for eight dollars including drink...an then I tip the waitress...
I noticed the restaurants have thinned out quite a bit in the past three years.. The Ta in troy illinois use to have a lot more business. The TA in Blooming ton, IL. The restaurant is, well you might as well put a carry out window only cause there's no butt"s in the chairs.
I noticed at a lot of the buffet's the food is not stirred fresh, in others words it gets a crust and then they food servers add fresh food. truck drivers talk about this and its disgusting. A lot of them walk away. lost sales. Bloomington illinois the porter there was on his own..had to take care of garbage cans outside and the showers and other things...because of corperate cut back...wow not the truck drivers fault nor the poters fault drivers had to wait 30 minutes for shower.
Wow I said alot and could say so much more.
I mean no disrespect to any employee or facility.
Thanks for your time Mr. O'Brien
Driver for Brunton Motor Freight of Pontiac Illinois.
