Hello, My name is Angeline, a senior at Tazewell High School in a small Virginian town. I am apart of a school organization called DECA. DECA is an international association of high school and college students and teachers of marketing, management, and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service. The organization prepares leaders and entrepreneurs for careers and education in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and other business areas. It is one of ten organizations listed as Career and Technical Student Organizations by the United States Department of Education. I intend to continue my education at Virginia Tech as a business major. I have been a member of DECA for 2 years and I will be one again this school year. Last year at state, hosted at the conference center in Virginia Beach, I placed in the top 8 with my two partners in the Sports Operations Research Event. I was then able to advance to nationals, which was an international event held in Nashville, Tennessee. It was a true experience being surrounded by thousands of students all around the world with such ambition and potential to become influential role models. I believe if all student were able to experience what I did, they would be driven to be a successful student and achieve beyond their limits. This year, nationals will be held in Anaheim, California on April 26-29th of 2017. DECA nationals this year will be a huge opportunity for me, as well as my peers in the organization. We would have to opportunity be exposed to culture and to see really see the world from a different perspective. Many people in my town have been limited to any exposure to these vital experiences and this needs to change. As a senior, I want to make sure every person wanting to fulfill their dreams to be on this trip is completely assured they will be able to go without any financial issues.
