John sent a message to Thomas A. McCoy President and CEO, JTI that said:
Hello Sir,
I first want to state that contacting under these circumstances is rather unconventional, however, my desire to connect with your company negates that decision from not happening. I recently applied with for a Sales Rep. position in Columbus Ohio, my home town and and eagerly awaiting the closing date of April 30th. for all applications to be sent in.
I just wanted to show gumption and eagerness because I feel you have the perfect candidate here, already in Ohio. I'll make it known that I actually applied and was offered a job with RJ Reynolds recently, however, having a new fiancĂ and plans on the way, the option of moving to Hawaii was just not an option. I know Ohio like the back of my hand and what this position takes.
My contacting you is not out of desperation but rather to set myself apart from simply letting my resume sit on a pile waiting to be seen. I appreciate all your company stands for and hope that someday soon I'll have an opportunity to make my case as to why I'd make a wonderful asset to the JTI family.
Kind regards,
John
