Tanner Reese sent a message to J. Paul Raines Chief Executive Officer of GameStop Corporation Email Address that said:
Hello,
My name is Tanner and Im a senior guest adviser working at a GameStop in California. I understand that with the retail market the way that it is and with competition coming from every single side, any day that the stores are closed is a day that sales are lost (especially for incredibly high volume stores that arent like mine).
But Im a kid thats moved out on his own and I can barely afford the place where I live. I both work at GameStop and go to school so my time is rather taken up by those two things. I really only get a few days to be with my family and to be with my friends. Thanksgiving was, up until this year, one of the days that I could forget my troubles and forget my worries. I could travel to my hometown to be with my family and have a delicious home cooked meal.
Thanksgiving this year is dead now. I have school the day before and Black Friday is directly after. I dont have the time to have an early Thanksgiving and frankly neither does my family. This is, strangely enough, the exact reason we have a specified day for Thanksgiving. Frankly, I know that you most likely wont be at work that Thanksgiving Day and certainly wont be staying at work as late as I will (11 PM if you didnt know).
I just want one day to get together with my family and celebrate what I have. I just want that one thing. So please, at least for next year, keep the doors shut on Thanksgiving.
Thank you.
