Hi, I don’t know if this will actually reach you, but, if it does, I – Edward W Stack email address

Diane sent a message to Edward W. Stack – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dick’s Sporting Goods – Email Address that said:

Hi,
I don't know if this will actually reach you, but, if it does, I wanted to give you a heads up before I sent this email to the Department of Labor in Oklahoma. I have been in the corporate world for many years and I know that sometimes the policies of the company don't always make it to the local level, so I thought I would give you a chance to address before this becomes a real issue. "Hi,

I'm a concerned parent sending an email about how Dick's Sporting Goods on Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City deals with their hourly employees. At the end of every night, Dick's Sporting Goods makes their hourly employees clock out and then they wait, sometimes up to 30 minutes, for the management to walk with them through their work area to make sure everything has been done to the managers satisfaction, then they are searched, by a manager of the same sex, from head to toe and their bags for any stolen good (even if they've never had an issue with that employee).

Now, I understand if they need to make their payroll hours, but if you begin adding up how long they keep their employees, they seem to be skirting the edge of what is legal. I can understand having to wait a couple of minutes, but up to 30 minutes is ridiculous. If you were to interview the employees you would find this pattern happens EVERY night. My child has literally texted that they would be leaving in 15 minutes and they finally get home 2 hours later. I was worried that my child was just partying or something with the other employees afterward, so I went to Dicks and waited outside to see what was going on, thats when I found out what was happening and after some questioning of my child, I found out that this is the practice every night. Maybe because many of the hourly employees are young and don't know better, they believe that doing work while off the clock is ok. But, last night I told my child that if any employee had clocked out and then was required to fix something in their area and they got injured there would be enormous issues because they 'technically' wouldn't be eligible for workman's comp. I feel that they are taking advantage of young workers who do not know any better and feel that they need to be corrected.

I do not want my child to be fired, or worse in this day and age, bullied online, or in person, for saying anything. Yes, I do understand that whistle blowers aren't to be retaliated against, but those laws don't cover the personal side of things and in today's digital age, the consequences could actually be deadly.

If I am way off and these practices are legal, then just ignore this email, but if there are issues, please, please, please go to the Dick's Sporting Goods and hold the management accountable for the lost wages and intimidation that they use to keep their young employees in line."
