Lon sent a message to Thomas M. Rutledge – Chief Executive Officer and President of Charter Communications, Inc. – Email Address that said:
Hi Tom!
Our backgrounds are similar in waiting for and working on a long term project. Im encouraged, and see that good things do come to those who wait... and work hard.
I am working on the Lou Rawls Legacy, developed a 14 piece orchestra, got an orchestra director, venue and the Lou Rawls family behind me while I sing all of Lou Rawls music, AND he was a long time friend of mine.
What we didn't know what that he would die suddenly (we can all look for that doppelganger to come a creeping around) and virtually leave me the job of carrying on the music!
I guess since you've merged all of the companies together to arrive at bigger/better, I should let you know the specifics of my email to you. But first, just let me say,"surprise surprise surprise," as Gomer Pyle would say. You remember Gomer. Because my email has to be a surprise for I guess both of us.
All of these upgrades, services, enhancements, etc. have to cost someone.
Let me start by saying that I am hopeful that you will be more lenient with U.S. Veterans giving them veterans discounts and a price freeze/rollback, as well as with Senior Citizens. These are the most vulnerable in our society. But if you couple Veterans who are Seniors too, well there you have it. I'm looking into your eyes. I see a human being and a real man with a heart inside there. I see a real mode of satisfaction on the corners of your lips.
And you look like you know how to really laugh!
That being said, I'm off and just want to say congratulations of your accomplishments. You don't know me, but I'm on Facebook.
In your letter which I received on today, I read it a couple of times... it speaks of all of the things you'll do, but it doesn't address what the customers will do in their watching all of this transpire.
People don't like change and they are afraid of rate increases, especially when some of them are barely paying their bills - Seniors I mean. You see, the young people - that is, the working classes can handle an increase of $5 or $10 dollars a month; but the seniors, the veterans, people on a fixed income can't. TWC did a pretty good job making a way for seniors. I hope you do too. But I'd like to see a senior veteran's rate - perhaps the government will partner with you to see to it that veterans get help and retired veterans I'm speaking of specifically, but veterans in general.
Now, give the customers that can afford to, to give when they pay their bills, a little extra voluntarily to help those who cannot pay because they were young and now they are old. Wal-Mart does that. "Would you like to give a dollar to help veterans and seniors as well," Some say yes, while others say no... it works.
Now you'll be needing our support too. Customers rock! So I just want to tell you that I for one, and with you. Hope your merger does all that you dreamed it would do for 10 years. You didn't give up. And, well, lol you finally got the company that you were passed over in 2001. Gottaluvit!!
Thanks Tom!
Lon
P.S. You look like a Lou Rawls Fan. I have an idea how you can help us to get the ball rolling on these great musical performances. Call me and let's see how Spectrum can help me launch this ship. I have Lou Rawls, Jr. and Mrs. Lana Rawls in my corner, and something big is coming down the Pike in the way of a major film. I can get you an exclusive perhaps if you can help us now. Let's talk.
