Ishita sent a message to Michael O’Leary – CEO, Ryanair – Email Address that said:
Hi,
My name is Ishita. I am a from India and am in Europe currently for my student exchange term. I was supposed to fly from Athens to Mykonos this morning via FR6592 at 7:15 AM, arrival time at Mykonos airport being 8:05 AM.
Due to "unavoidable circumstances", the flight couldn't land at Mykonos airport and brought all of us back at Athens airport. Ryanair was flying us back to the same place by the same flight which would depart at 12:00 noon from Athens airport.
1. The boarding or the departure did not take place on time. Ryanair strictly mentioned the boarding gate would close at 6:45 AM. In order to meet the stipulated time, I had to take a taxi from my accommodation to the airport which cost me 40 euros since it was 4:30 AM in the morning. The boarding had barely started by 6:45 AM.
2. I had made my *non-refundable* booking at a hotel in Mykonos which cost me 25 euros. And had a couple of very nice activities planned for the early afternoon. All of this got cancelled by default owing to the unfortunate incident.
3. There is no way I would have flown by the same flight at 12 again because I cant even begin to explain just how unpleasant the flight experience was. The entire duration that too. Not just around Mykonos. It was pathetic to say the least. I feel physically unwell after the flight, now. If you keep yourself in my shoes, youd not travel again either, I guess.
The mental trauma caused by the incident cannot be valuated, so lets leave that aside.
After everything, I am being offered a "full refund" of my ticket fare. As a passenger, I am deeply offended and pained by this since I am a student from India travelling in Europe on a definite budget. I especially planned this trip to Mykonos and Greece trip doesnt even seem justified anymore. I have taken 8 flights with Ryanair booked by either me or my friends. But this experience really has put me off.
I am hoping for a better consideration at your end and not a mere "full refund" of ticket fare by you, as my mail explains.
Awaiting your response.
Ishita
