thai sent a message to Andrew House President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. that said:
Hi,
I was a big fan of playstation for many years and have nothing but praise for the company. I even missed a few says of work to camp out to get the ps3 and ps4 during launch day. But tonight, my view of the company has changed dramatically.
At 11:04pm, I received an email from playstation network stating my sign in email for psn has been changed and in the body, it stated if I didn't authorize this change, to click on the link. Thinking that it may be a phishing email, i decided not to click the link and instead google the email. After reading a few dozen links that took me to gaming forums regarding the email, I decided to go to the official playstation website and try to log in. To my surprise, i was unable to log into my account with my email and password. I havent used my psn since a month after I purchased my ps4 so I thought I might have the inccorect password. I tried a different passwords and same failed result. I decided to click on the "i forgot my password" link and when I entered my email, surprise surprise, it says my email is invalid.
At this point I was panicking since it has been a hour in and my personal info is now being seen by the hacker. I went to the "contact us" on your webpage and clicked the chat link. But when I was directed to the next page, I received an error. When I tried again, the page tells me that the customer service is only open from a certain time. Now I am searching for an email but couldn't find any email listed. Instead I see a note saying that there is no email address because playstation wants to talk directly with the customer. Pretty tough to do if they aren't available.
I decided to look for a contact number and went on google to search for it. I found 2 numbers from game members from different forums. I called both number and of course, no one was acailable since there isn't a 24 hour customer service. I realize that I have my ps4 downstairs so I went down to check my account. When I powered my device up. I was logged in but unable to see the email account info since I was not on the internet. I went to settings and connected to my hotspot. The console logged me off but then logged me back on. I thought that was strange. I went to the email account and was shocked at what I saw. My email account was changed and shows some other email in the field, I did not know whose email this was. I decided to change the email but it asks for the password which I do not know.
My question is, how did this person able to change my email address and playstation is unable to send me an email alert to confirm if I am the person who authorize this? Instead I received an email after the fact that my email has already changed and if it was an error, to contact playstation support. How am I suppose to comtact your support if they are not open? This really boggled my mind. For a big company with gamers around the world, you would think that there would be a 24 hour customer service to provide with any psn issue. Lastly, how am I able to log into my account but can't change my email from there? How did I even get in if the password and email changed? Is my ps4 now compromised? I haven't used my account for awhile so when I checked my credit card info, it shows nothing. Did they have access to my billing info and my credit card info?
It is now 2:07am, 3 hours since my email alert about the sign up email change and I have no solution. I even posted on your fb page for awhile hoping to get one of your employees attention since I was out of options. My buddy told me on fb about this page and to contact you directly this way. I hope you change the way you handle this issue because this is very pathetic to speak the least from a big company like sony playstation. How hard is it to get a 24 hour customer service? On top of that, is it that difficult to send an early alert to my email that someone is requesting to change my sign in email to my psn? Many gamers put their trust into your network and your security. They have private information and credit card info on those accounts. And today, my account was hacked and no one from psn is there to help me when I need them the most and to get this straightened out before the hacker was able to get any valuable info. It was not hard for your company to ask us consumers to out our money and trust into your company, but yet your company lacks the respect to help those who are helping your company grow by purchasing your consoles and games. I am passed disappointment that there is no words to describe how I feel about this anymore. Good day Mr. House. I hope you enjoy your sleep and counting the profits you received from both hardcore and leisure gamers.
