Mr. Nassetta,
It is my hope that you can help in what has been a dishearten situation. In March of 2019 my daughter was engaged and to be married in April 2020. When the plans were being made we needed to get a block of rooms for the out of town guests, and being long time Hilton Honors members, we wanted get that block of rooms with Hilton.
Now due to COVID-19 my daughters wedding of April 4, 2020, was postponed to June13, 2020. Hilton was helpful in just moving the block of rooms to the new date, making the transition easier on our guests. At that same time, Kevin Schmidt, Director of Rooms (DoubleTree by Hilton, Richmond-Midlothian) was able to offer my daughter the Presidential Suite for the day before the wedding and the wedding day for a price of $169. This larger room was needed due to the fact that the original vendor for hair and makeup was no longer available for the new wedding date and the new vendor would be coming to the hotel to get the bridal party ready.
Now here we are in May and it does not look like Virginia will be in Phase 3 of reopening by June 13th and the wedding is being rescheduled again. The new date is September 13, and Hilton has been contacted and are moving all the guests to the updated wedding date. We still needed the Presidential Suite for September 12 and 13th, due to hair and make up for 9 women, but we were told by Laura Hurt, Director of Group Rooms, that they would not give us the Presidential Suite for the price previously quoted but instead wanted to charge us $279 a night for the same suite they were only going to charge $169 for, if the wedding would have been in June.
Having to plan a wedding, reschedule and reschedule again has been very stressful but I didn't think Hilton would be adding to the pressures by switching up prices.
I hope you can help me with this situation that should not even be occurring. All of our vendors have been very understanding and accommodating and I hope to add Hilton to that list.
I have copies of the emails that transpired since March, when the first reschedule happened.
I hope to hear back from you shortly and hope to have this resolved.
Thank you for your time.
