@HowieSchultz – Howard Schultz – Good morning, I am writing today as Power of Attorney for my sister, Lynne Jones

Kay J Berland sent a message to Howard Schultz that said:

Good morning,

I am writing today as Power of Attorney for my sister, Lynne Jones, who was diagnosed in 2017 with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. She retired from your employment after twenty-one years of faithful service. I speak highly of your company and your provision for your employees.

I so appreciate that Lynne Jones has COBRA medical coverage option until her Medicare start date of August 2019. She is receiving a disability check of $1,335.00. Since her COBRA is such a large expense, my husband and myself take care of her housing, utilities, food, and adult daycare, a $700+ per month deficit. When Lynne retired from Starbucks last year, she could not drive, cook, or live alone. She has declined and will continue to do so. Georgia does not have the Medicaid benefit for disability as a bridge insurance coverage for the two year waiting period before Medicare kicks in.

In February, Lynne’s COBRA Extension premium is going up to almost a $1,000 per month. I am asking, please, for you to continue her current COBRA copay of $618.69 until August 2019, when she will receive Medicare.

I thank you again for the benefits you provide to your employees. I await your reply.

Sincerely,
Kay Jones Berland
