Cauwels sent a message to Brenton L. Saunders – Chief Executive Officer of Allergan, Plc – Email Address that said:
I am a breast cancer patient. In 2011-2103 I underwent three surgeries, two different extreme chemotherapy drug treatments, and a full course of radiation treatments. I will be on cancer drugs for at least a decade.
I lost all my hair, my eyelashes and eyebrows included. The hair on my head grew back ( a lot thinner), but my eyelashes never grew back properly and this is very upsetting to me.
Insurance will pay for wigs or rogaine (though I do not use them) but will not pay for latisse to help my eyelashes come back.
I am disabled due to chronic vertigo and live on a tiny fixed income (I send $10 each a month to my multitude of doctors and therefore I struggle each month to pay for rent and utilities, there simply is no more money for anything else). My dermatologist at Sloan Kettering has tried many times to beg my insurance company to make exception and pay for latisse so that I can feel somewhat better about my tiny eyelashes. But the insurance company refuses.
Please... might you find it in your hearts to offer free latisse treatment to cancer patients like myself? I can't imagine that having normal lashes should only be for those who are healthy AND have money. Please... I'm begging for your assistance in treating my lashes with latisse and letting at least one part of me feal normal again.
My doctor at SLoan Kettering is Dr. Lacounture and my name is Epiphany-Gael Cauwels.
Thank you for listening.
