Richard sent a message to Akio Toyoda President and CEO, Toyota Motor Corporation – email address that said:
I am contacting you on a matter of honor. I will always buy a Made in Japan auto over a USA made vehicle if the opportunity presents itself. In 2007 I did an online search and found a 2007 Camry in Texas and bought it BECAUSE IT WAS MADE IN JAPAN. That vehicle failed your oil consumption test this year and I tried in vain to get the USA branch to replace the motor with a Made in Japan motor. Instead, they took two months and then poorly rebuilt the motor in May 2016. The motor is burning oil and smoking. You no longer make this car in Japan and ship it to the USA so I am asking you to replace the 2007 Toyota Camry's motor with a Made in Japan motor. I even went so far as to talk twice to USA executives regarding this during the months it took to fix the car. I warned them at the time that no American would or COULD fix or build a car as well as you can there in Japan. Exactly as I predicted, the car is now burning oil just 3 months later. It is the honorable thing to do to replace this engine with a J Vin motor. If you cannot do this sir, I would like a very inexpensive Made in Japan NEW Rav 4. It is not that I want to take advantage of Toyota, it is a matter of honor and wisdom. I warned them they would fail. Americans simply are not as good making vehicles as Japanese. Not very nationalistic of me, but accurate. I await your reply.
